Wednesday in the VegHeadz Garden

VegHeadz meet around the sharing table
To plan for Annual Farm Tour
Plans are unde way for the 14th Annual Farm Tour.  The VegHeadz Garden will once again be one of the optional stops on the tour on October 9.  After a year of absence from the garden, we are still playing catch-up on the weeding, since last year’s annual weeds were allowed to seed out in our absence.  Oh the abundance.  But we’re getting a handle on it, with willing hands and gardeners just happy to be outside and together again. A little less humidity would be welcome.

Several beds included cowpeas which were chopped and dropped today.  They were covered with leaves and should be mostly decomposed and returned to the soil by the time it is cool enough to plant fall crops.

Bill, Nancy, and Cathy—Happy chop and droppers
And finally a good summer recipe for Roasted Ratatouille from Cathi Wilkinson. She says it may not need to roast as long as indicated in the recipe.  We harvested eggplants, tomatoes, and peppers today so you may have some in your garden too.
