Second Harvest Garden Discontinued

We are sad to report the pending discontinuance and dismantling of the educational garden at Second Harvest.  Many volunteers including youth from the iGrow program sponsored by Tallahassee Food Network, Master Gardeners, and others, put in hours and hours over a period of several years to make this a showcase of small-scale gardening.  It has been an example for clients of Second Harvest and visitors, and has supplied fresh produce for distribution by Second Harvest.  Apparently rodents have been sighted in the garden area which occupies space next to the SH dumpsters, and the area is being cleared to avoid any possible problem with health safety inspections at the agency.  Compost from the garden beds and all improvemens will be utilized by other non-profit agencies in similar gardens.
